Amber, Hong Kong

To me, Amber is a good place for French food in Hong Kong. At least I liked it more than Caprice.

Quite some travelers told me they are disappointed with the restaurant. To be very honest, I understand their disappointment. But I guess we just have to factor in the fact that French cuisines in Hong Kong is not as matured as Japan, and it shouldn’t be compared to restaurants in France. My favorite dish at Amber was not the signature uni and caviar dish, but the chocolate souffle. Another dish that I liked was the foie gras. Service and environment lived up to 3 star standard.

By all means, I do believe Chef Richard Ekkebus put a lot of effort in this place.
