If I were on a business trip to Tokyo, Joel Robuchon’s Rouge Bar is definitely one of the places that I would be to stretch out – especially after a long day of meetings. If you’re looking for bargain priced drinks go elsewhere. It’s pretty quiet on weekdays – ideal if you have an urge to detach yourself from the busy Tokyo crowds.
Pick your choice of poison and recline on their cozy three-seater sofas – soon you’ll be under the spell of dimly lit lounge, gaze into the distance and enjoy your newly found patch of peace. Their sofas are so comfy, I could fall asleep on them.
The Rouge Bar carries a nice selection of Japanese whisky. I ordered one, and to my surprise, the bartender carved a ball of ice out of a block – something you don’t get to see often elsewhere.
If Japanese whisky is your thing, Hibiki 17 years might suit you if you’d like something refined yet easy-going for the night.
