My advice is – opt for simple food (actually the cheapest options) when you are at Don Alfonso 1890 Macau (sister restaurant of Ristorante Don Alfonso 1890 in Massa Lubrense, Italy.

I was particularly looking forward to some of their signature dishes – Home-made scallops gnocchi on a layer of black ink sauce with sea urchins and celery shoots; and Sea eel ice-cream, Oscietra caviar, basil and capers pesto.

But what caught me by surprise was their “Don Alfonso” Spaghetti. It was so simple yet so good that it beat their fancy signature dishes in seconds – perfect al dente texture, fresh sweet aromatic tomato sauce and with a touch of fresh basil.

Good food doesn’t need to be fancy.
