Mandarin Grill + Bar, Hong Kong

The Mandarin Grill and Bar is no stranger to the Michelin Guide. It has been on the list for quite some time, retaining its one star for the 2014 guide.

The meal begins with their signature molecular appetizer – green olives, followed by savoury puffs and raw fish. Their main dishes are enjoyable, particularly the sirloin and beef calotte. The steak was perfectly cooked to request and was flavourful – all comes in a thoughtful presentation along with the condiments. Point to note is their main dishes all comes in large portions. Another highlight was their black truffle chocolate – part of the petit fours – it felt amazingly smooth and melts in the mouth.

The menu at the Mandarin Grill hardly changes, so for those seeking a seasonal menu, it may not be the best place. Having said that, the quality definitely deserves a one-star rating.
